PURPOSE

  • The purpose of the Junior Bowling Program of the National Bowling Association, Inc. is to foster and promote the game of Ten Pins among both boys and girls. Membership is open to all youth bowlers.

  • The TNBA Junior Bowling Program promotes Sportsmanship, Fellowship and Friendship through encouragement, tutelage and guidance needed to learn the game and develop the skills that are essential to full enjoyment and successful competition.

  • In addition to bowling, TNBA Junior Bowlers are given instructions in the basics of everyday living, such as: a sense of fair play in sports and daily habits, respect for others, leadership, responsibility and honesty.

  • TNBA Junior Bowlers directed towards meaningful lanes of life, may their footwork be in good timing in:

    Sportsmanship, Fellowship, Friendship


MEMBERSHIP

  • Membership in the National Bowling Association Junior Bowling Program is open to all boys and girls who have not reached their 20th birthday on or before August 1 of the upcoming bowling season. Once sanctioned under this rule, a TNBA Junior Bowler is an eligible bowler until July 31 unless under suspension.

  • Individual membership in the National Bowling Association Junior Bowling Program can be obtained only through bowling in an TNBA sanction league, or through participation in an TNBA sanctioned event.

  • The current sanction fee is $7.00.


AGE DIVISIONS

  • There are four age divisions:

    • Bantams: Boys and girls 8 years of age and under on or before August 1.

    • Preps: Boys and girls 9 through 11 years of age who will not reach their 12th birthday on or before August 1.

    • Juniors: Boys and girls 12 through 14 years of age who will not reach their 15th birthday on or before August 1.

    • Seniors: Boys and girls 15 through 19 years of age who will not reach their 20th birthday on or before August 1.

  • Leagues may be organized to include boys and girls of all age division, if necessary or desired. The National Bowling Association Special Awards and Chevrons are awarded on the individuals member's age

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • To be eligible for membership in the National Bowling Association Inc., Junior Bowling Program and to retain the privileges of such membership individuals who have not reached their 20th birthday on or before August 1 of the current bowling season must meet the following conditions.

  • If a TNBA member participates in any bowling activity recognized by their State High School Athletic Association, the more restrictive eligibility rule TNBA or State High School Athletic Association will apply.

  • To maintain eligibility, youth bowlers must not bowl, substitute or pace in any bowling activity where:

    • 1. They are involved in any form of gambling.

    • 2. Cash or bonds are awarded.

    • 3. Any award exceeds $50.00 in value, not including cost for engraving, lettering, postage, and/or tax (For further clarification, see TNBA Junior Program Handbook.)

  • Buying or selling of earned awards is prohibited.
