TNBA’s Owen O. Washington Scholarship Award Program

Dave Schroeder, USBC Communications, wrote an excellent summary of our Junior Bowlers weekend at USBC’s International Training and Research Center (ITRC). This 3-day workshop is one of the many collaborations between USBC and TNBA. Many thanks go out to TNBA’s Don Armstead, Veronica Green , ITRC Project Coordinator Barbara Council-Armstead and USBC’s ITRC staff for putting on another successful workshop.

TNBA’s 80th Championship Tournament, 82 Annual Convention and 2022 TNBA Week kicks off with the AJR Junior Championship Roll-off

The winner of the 2022 AJR Junior Championship Roll-off was team “Air Strikers”, the Southern Regional champs from the Crescent City Senate out of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Evan McGloster Shoots a 267 at TNBA’s Southern Region Junior Tournament

Evan D. McGloster, age 10, rolls a 267 for a 608 series at TNBA’s Southern Region Junior Tournament, this year’s virtual tournament (this one held in Jackson MS.) He is a 2nd year Junior Gold Qualifier and bowls with team Metro 24 Rollers at the Metro 24 Bowling Center. This tournament is just one of 4 regional tournaments held in April for our junior bowlers. Evan is just one of many junior bowlers that bowled well at these tournaments. Our tournament directors are reporting scores in the high 260s, 270s and 280s.

The Central and Eastern junior tournaments were (or will be) held on site and the Western along with the Southern tournaments were held virtually. These regional junior tournaments will determine what teams will represent their region at our AJR Junior Championship Roll-Off during TNBA Week, Saturday, May 21 in Dallas, TX. “And the winners are George Gohagan III and Gregory Thompson Jr.” – Gohagan and Thompson Takes the PBA West South Point Doubles

Third seeded George Gohagan lll and Gregory Thompson Jr. took home the gold in PBA West’s bi-annual Member/non-member Southpoint Doubles tournament held November 7, 2021. After a close 9 frame championship match with the number four seed, a tenth frame strikeout put them in the drivers set to win.

TNBA welcomes “Many Stylessssss of Bowling“ into the TNBA Family.
Many Stylessssss of Bowling will be TNBA’s new Souvenir vendor. After multiple stages of vetting of proposals from a half dozen companies, including presentations along with question and answer sessions, TNBA’s souvenir vendor committee selected “Many Stylessssss of Bowling“ as the new vendor for The National Bowling Association, Inc.

Queenie Green-Johnson: TNBA’s Las Vegas Senate recognizes their Bowlers.

TNBA staff writer Danny Mack highlights one of his senate members: “I had the opportunity to bowl with Queenie in the Sunday TNBA mixed fours league at The Orleans Bowling Lanes. Queenie is a great teammate, always willing to help you with your game.”

TNBA’s Historical Flipbook Stroll Through our King & Queen Program.

The four volume Flipbook of our “TNBA Kings & Queens By Year” historical stroll (for years 1958 thru 2020) is now online. This Flipbook displays our Royal Court, captures the essence of our King & Queen program and exemplifies what our Joe Thomas King & Queen Coronation Ball is all about. TNBA’s Collegiate Program

Through TNBA’s Collegiate Program’s communications with bowling coaches from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), several have expressed an interest in female & male bowlers out of the TNBA Junior Programs for their respective university’s bowling teams.

Director Keith Bridgeforth has listed several colleges and universities that has Collegiate Bowling scholarship programs. Read more about this on our Collegiate Program Page.

DBS Recognizes one of their Youth

Isabel Ping, a member of the Denver Bowling Senate Junior Bowling Program is a very confident, independent leader with a strong talent for bowling. She is very competitive and strives to compete with the best. She has won multiple individual awards as well as several team and individual championships, including the 2018 – 2019 Queens / Duchess / Princess tournament for women where she placed 3^rd in the Duchess division. She also recently bowled an 878 (300, 278, 300) in a Thanksgiving 9-pin No-Tap fundraising tournament for the DBS Jrs. program.

Ari Wilson Captures PBA
Western Regional Title

Bowling in the recent Western Regional Member Non-Member doubles tournament held in South Point Bowling Plaza, Ari Wilson along with his doubles partner Zack Hattori won the Western Regional Doubles Title. This feat has only been accomplished by a handful of amateur bowlers. See more on our Bowler Spotlight Page.

TNBA’s Eastern Field Representative Robert Danzy Jr.

Gave a refreshing background on the history and structure of TNBA when he was featured in the Thursday 9/19/19 issue of The Daily Gazette located in Schenectady/Albany NY.

In this article, The Daily Gazette said that “ Robert Danzy Jr. is aggressively — and passionately — promoting an old bowling sanctioning body that might not be too familiar to many local keglers.” TNBA’s Vice President, Dr. Michael Boykins points out that it was “really nice work by our newest Eastern Field Representative” See more on our Bowler Spotlight Page.

TNBA Promotional Video — Celebrating our 80th Anniversary

TNBA has produced a short video documentary about our organization, along with several short snippets that have been extracted from the larger documentary highlighting various aspects or specific programs of our organization. These videos educate others about our organization, it’s history and what it is that uniquely sets us apart from other bowling organizations.
