TNBA Junior Bowlers Selected to the USBC “2016 Junior Team USA Roster

TNBA Junior Bowling Director, Veronica Green recently announced that two of TNBA’s Junior bowlers were selected to the USBC 2016 Junior Team USA.

Meeco Walker

Meeco Walker, East Cleveland, Ohio and Gazmine Mason, Providence, RI were amongst the elite field of 10 boys and 10 girls; who were selected thru a vigorous screening process; to represent youth bowling in international bowling competition. The Junior Team USA competes in several prestigious events all over the world.

Candidate’s need more than superior bowling scores in order to be reviewed by the National Selection Committee.  They also look for Performance (in competition/tournament play); Physical Game (approach, speed and all aspects of releasing the ball in different lane conditions); Mental Game (are you coachable, focused, have a good attitude and can perform well under pressure) and Team Play (are you a positive team player who supports the team members and shares a winning attitude). Both Meeco and Gazmine not only met all of the committee’s initial qualifications; but had to compete in the Junior Gold Championships and Team USA Trials.

Gazmine Mason

Meeco, a right-handed bowler who started at age 3, was Runner-Up at the 2015 Intercollegiate Singles Championships; cashed at the 2014 PBA McKinley Lanes Central/East Challenge, and finished 4th overall and led qualifying for the U15 Division at the 2012 Junior Gold Championships.  Having shot his first 300 game at the age of 13, Meeco Has seven 300 games and two 800 series to his credit.  He attends Norte Dame College studying in Nursing.  This is his first year of being selected to the team.

Gazmine, also a right-handed bowler, isn’t new to the team.  She was also selected to the 2015 Junior Team USA and earned herself another spot on the 2016 team.  She has a gold medal (singles) and four silver medals (trio, team, all-events, Masters) at the 2015 PABCON Youth Championships; a member of the 2015 NCAA Bowling Championship winner; 2015 NTCA third-team All-American, amongst other awards.  An alumni of the Providence Senate’s Junior Program, she is current attending The University of Nebraska.  She has one career 300 game, a high series of 761 and highest average of 225.
